DAY 6 – THE EXPRESSION SESSION & THE PRIZE GIVING AT PK 25 DAKHLA HOTEL
On the last day of the GKA Kite-Surf World Tour in Dakhla, all riders visited Dakhla lagoon to show some strapless freestyle moves just in front of our newly opened sister hotel – PK25 Dakhla hotel.
This day was special for PK25 because it was the official hotel inauguration and at the same time GKA Kite-Surf World Tour Dakhla/ Morocco prize giving and closing ceremony.
Congratulations to all the winners, participants, organisers and the local authority! We would also like to thank our sponsors and partners who made this event happen!
DAY 5 – GIRLS FOCUS
This year we had 14 women registered for the competition which is the largest number of female competitors ever at the GKA Kite-Surf World Tour! In general, strapless kitesurfing is becoming a more and more popular discipline among female riders.
The next day after the finals, all riders and GKA crew were enjoying Westpoint Dakhla facilities and great weather conditions. While some were foiling and surfing next to the hotel others took a chance to discover Dakhla city.
DAY 4 – DOUBLE ELIMINATIONS FINALS
On the forth day of the GKA Kite-Surf World Tour in Dakhla, the water was literally on fire due to intense finals. Airton against Keahi and Jalou vs Moona were fighting for the first places on the podium. Here are the results!
Congratulations to all the competitors and to our GKA Dakhla champions – Airton and Jalou!
DAY 3 – DOUBLE ELIMINATIONS
On the third day of the GKA Kite-Surf World Tour in Dakhla, the wind was blowing since early morning but the swell hit just in the afternoon. For double eliminations judges decided to have – 60% wave riding and 40% strapless freestyle.
The double-eliminations gave a second chance for all riders to win the competition. Because of a late start, the competition could not be finished before a sunset. This day will reveal who are the official winners of the GKA Kite-Surf World Tour stop in Dakhla.
Like every year, an important social aspect of any competition in Dakhla is teaching disadvantaged kids from Dakhla the basics of kitesurfing. Matchu Lopez from Spain and the last years winner Mitu Montero from Cape Verde were sharing their passion and showing kids the joys of controlling a kite.
DAY 2 – SINGLE ELIMINATIONS
The GKA Kite-Surf World Tour 2018 in Dakhla once again has a mixed format, riders were judged on two parts – 70% wave riding and 30% strapless freestyle.
Luckily, good wind conditions allowed to run the competition all day. The men’s division started early morning following the women’s heats in the afternoon. The competition started at the beach break while women’s heats moved to the point break of Oum Lamboiur, just next to Westpoint Dakhla hotel.
DAY 2 SINGLE ELIMINATION RESULTS:
The next day will be double eliminations so the tension between riders is getting high. Now let’s hope that great wind conditions will continue all week.
DAY 1 – REGISTRATION DAY
From the 24th to 29th of April 2018, Westpoint Dakhla hotel is the main host and a sponsor for the GKA Kite-Surf World Tour in Dakhla/Morocco.
This year 48 riders – 34 men and 14 women registered for the competition. Last year, only few girls showed up and, sadly, the number was too low to form a women’s division. However, this year we have a big change – 14 women registered and it already exceeds the number in Cape Verde that was 10.
After early morning registration and a positive wind forecast, there was a hope to start the competition straight away. However, all hopes vanished when the reality did not delivered contestable wind conditions.
